Allison Chinchar is a meteorologist for CNN and HLN. She often appears as a guest on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. She was an in-house meteorologist at local stations on the air in Atlanta, Nashville and Chattanooga prior to moving to CNN. The station covered blizzards and hurricanes along with flooding and wildfires, and won an Emmy for the coverage she provided of Hurricane Dorian that struck the Bahamas during the year of 2019. In April 2011 she covered super tornado outbreak, which saw 350 tornadoes strike the Southeastern United States within four days. Around 200 tornadoes were recorded on the 27th of April 2011. Because of her training in environmental science she has covered earthquakes, volcanoes and other natural catastrophes, in addition to news about climate change. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. Chinchar is an active member of several organizations, including those of the American Meteorological Society and Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
