Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. Before learning how to read or write, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. In the year she turned 8years old, she purchased her first electric guitar. She began to sing at the Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. That same year, she released her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. She made a name for herself locally while still at high school, but dreamed of a bigger stage. After graduating high school in 1964, she moved straight to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (both 1967) and Something Fishy were among her first Monument Records chart-topping records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female singer for his show that was syndicated in the years prior to this. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. The band split in 1974 when her solo songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Parton composed "I I Will Never Forget You" in support of Wagoner shortly after they separated. It was ranked the top spot at No. It was the first time a song was able to reach No.
