Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop stars: a superstar who managed to fully transition from the traditional to making her an iconic celebrity and then conquering the world in the process. Swift dropped country as if it was another layer and proved that she is perhaps the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. Someone who is able to harness the zeitgeist to make it personal as well as perform in the opposite. Her talents are evident in some of her earliest tracks, notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless released in 2008 Swift was able to discover her true identity and gain audiences across the globe. The album was a huge success, not just in the United States, having six platinum-certified songs. The Top Ten songs Love Story and I Belong with Me were the main reasons for this. But, it also did exceptionally well throughout the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later consolidated that achievement and propelled Swift into the stratosphere of fame. With her subsequent three albums, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), Swift's popularity grew and she became part of the world of pop music in which it became clear she belonged. Although she slowed down her style with the 2020's stripped-down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the pop world a position she maintained with re-recordings of her older catalogs as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 collection.
